The mechanism was officially launched on January 26, 2010 in order to create fair business and investment climate. This mechanism may become a new factor to improve effectiveness for the implementation of RGC’s strategic policies in line with the International Best Practice of the International Trade SAFE Framework of Standard which is a main trigger for the economic prosperity. The establishment of this mechanism is also part of Cambodia’s obligations as member of the World Customs Organization. The CPPM is responsible for coordinating cooperation and mutual understandings between Customs Administration and Private Sector, as well as for resolving all customs related matters including bottlenecks and misunderstanding at the greatest possible extend before moving to other dispute settlement bodies, or to the Government-Private Sector Forum. This is also an important factor to ensure the effectiveness of the implementation of the RGC’s Trade Facilitation Policy. I would like to extend my appreciation to the representatives from private sector, especially the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, GMAC, and other development partners such as the World Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for their contributions to enable this mechanism to continue its function as planned.
