The General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia is honored to announce that on 10th August, 2010 the Ministry of Economy and Finance issued a Prakas N° 540 MEF.BK on Amendment of Customs Duty Rate and temporary placement of VAT Under Burden of the state on Imported Silk. In this regard, Customs Duty Rate of imported silk is reduced to zero percent (0%) and its VAT is placed under burden of the government. This preferential duty rate is granted in compliant with the result of 15th Government-Private Sector Forum held on 27th April, 2010 and with the proposal raised by the Private-Sector’s co-chair of the Manufacturing and small and Medium Enterprises. The placement of VAT under government’s burden mentioned above will be implemented temporarily until 31st December, 2013 as a preparation for supporting domestic silk production in the future.
